Philanthropy and charitable giving
The St. James's Place Philanthropy Service offers a tailored advisory service through the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF), to help you ensure your philanthropy is effective and rewarding.
Our aim is to increase the awareness of philanthropy and to help you understand how you can most effectively and efficiently support the causes and communities you believe in.
We want to help you so you can give easily, at the same time ensuring you receive the best advice.
Drawing on many years of experience, St. James's Place and CAF’s dedicated experts offer advisory services to you at all stages of your philanthropic journey.
Through CAF, the St. James's Place Philanthropy Service can provide access to the CAF account and trust arrangements for charitable giving for UK-resident clients. It can also facilitate tax-efficient giving for US citizens through the American Donor Fund. CAF’s Jersey facility helps non-UK domiciled clients gift offshore without their charitable gifting being affected by the remittance rules.
We believe your gifting experience should be rewarding and should evolve to keep pace with growth in your ambition and generosity. From defining and refining your goals and developing an effective strategy, to measuring the impact of your giving, our insight will help translate ideas into tangible results.
The levels and bases of taxation and reliefs from taxation can change at any time. The value of any tax relief depends on individual circumstances.

Making a Will is vital in Inheritance Tax (IHT) planning and it is always vitally important to ensure it is well written and planned correctly.
A carefully drafted Will can help your heirs plan for IHT appropriately by making the most of available tax reliefs and ensuring your assets go where you want them to.
If you fail to make a Will, you may see your assets divided according to intestacy rules.
Most of us would prefer our wealth to be passed on to our families, rather than HM Revenue & Customs. Which means that you should never assume that a Will, drawn up many years ago is still going to hold good today. It’s wise to regularly review your will, assessing its provisions and relevance to your changing circumstances.
We have access to a number of legal service providers who can arrange Wills to be drawn up on your behalf. This is just part of the service and advice we provide when it comes to protecting you and your estate.
The writing of a Will involves the referral to a service that is separate and distinct to those offered by St. James's Place. Wills are not regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.
